It’s that time of the year – the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! If you follow any fashion bloggers, whether you read their blogs or follow them on social media, you know about the sale already. The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale goes from July 21st – August 6th, and they discount a ton of items. Most sales discount stuff at the end of a season, but my favorite aspect of this sale is that Nordstrom knocks down the prices of a ton of fall items. It’s a perfect time for stocking up on sweaters and jeans, as well as back-to-school shopping.
The number of items on sale is overwhelming, and you want to be a smart shopper. Reminder: just because it’s on sale doesn’t mean you have to buy it.
Tips for shopping the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale
If you think you want the item, add it to your cart. Nordstrom has the best returns policy around. If you receive the item and it’s not up to your standards for whatever reason, you can return it. If i’m not sure of an item’s size, I’ll buy two and return the one that doesn’t fit.
If you love an item but it’s sold out, do not fret. Bookmark it and keep checking back, because Nordstrom restocks quite frequently. However, if you’re not following tip #1, someone may snag it first.
Like anything, the early bird gets the worm. Nordstrom card holders get access to sale items a week in advance. Don’t feel left out if you don’t have the card though; I don’t have the card and still end up with some items that I truly love. IMHO, you need to be your own financial advocate. There are a lot of other considerations to keep in mind when you open any credit card. Okay, off my soapbox now.
Okay, so without further ado, here are my ten favorite items in this year’s sale. (Keep in mind that they may or may not be currently in stock, so follow Tip #2!)
I love these mules/slides/backless loafers/whatever you want to call them. Unfortunately, they’ve been very popular and keep selling out in my size. I’m low key stalking the site in hopes of snagging a pair. I might order these as a backup.
I have this skirt and wear it all of the time. It is classic enough for work and the leather (faux) keeps it modern and chic.Rebecca MInkoff makes fabulous bags. I have this style in a black and leopard combo, and this gold version would be perfect to add some spice to a more neutral outfit.
I have this jacket, and it’s so awesome – esp for vegan leather. It’s perfect in the fall when you want something a little heavier.
Double stripe patterns! Cool sleeves! Get in my cart, you Topshop beauty.
This black and white top may have also “fallen” into my cart. Funny how that seems to happen with online shopping!
I am very lazy in the morning, and put minimal effort into what I’m going to wear to work. The solution is to get tops like this that will make even denim look polished (and takes literally no extra effort).
Pleated midi skirts are my JAM and I wear them all of the time. They are so versatile and can be worn from work to drinks to brunch. Basically, they carry their weight. I love this polka dot one from Vince Camuto, but there are a ton in the sale. Check out this satin one, this velvet one (swoon), and this simple black one.
Last but not least, this cashmere sweater that I can wear over anything from November to early April because winter is coming and I’m a major wuss when it’s cold. It comes in a couple of colors, and they will all go with everything you own. There’s also a wrap and a non-cashmere version for less dollars.
So that’s it for my recommendations from the Nordstrom anniversary sale. Yes, there are a ton more things – from housewares to denim to activewear and tons of other styles. If you’ve gotten anything, let me know!
