Hi everyone- I’ve teamed up with some fabulous local bloggers to bring you new content while I am under a big deadline at the day job! I hope you enjoy this, and be sure to check out these ladies’ blogs as well! First up is Alexis from SouthEndStyle!
Hey, y’all! I’m Alexis from SouthEndStyle– a Boston-based lifestyle blog, specializing in interior design & travel. When Jess asked me to write a guest post for Champagne Thursday, I was thrilled! I love her style, so naturally I was excited to be a part of her blog. I hope you enjoy today’s post.
Being recent transplant from Georgia to Boston, one of the most difficult adjustments has been space. Or should I say, lack thereof?! Going from a 1,500 > 500 square foot home has quite the challenges: luckily, I am quite a minimalist so I try to own items I truly only need (apart from the white & gold ram head on my wall. Goldie is a MUST!). One thing I’ve mastered is the art of versatility- there are so many items that can be used in multiple ways around the home. Enter: the tray. I have 3 fabulous trays- two clear, one gold. They are all beautiful, functional, versatile & space savers.
Here are 5 ways I’m using the trays in my home:
1. Entry table
Trays are a fantastic way to define a space and keep table tops organized. I use mine to hold keys, sunglasses, etc. In the above picture I actually have a tray inside a tray. I love it!
2. Coffee Table
Similar to an entry table, trays define coffee table space. I love to rotate what I’ve got inside- designer books, fresh flowers, a cute vase, a few catch alls. Plus, if you’re like me and you eat dinner at the coffee table (more often than I’d like to admit), the tray is an easy way to clear the table while keeping everything clean & organized.
3. Bar Cart
Ah, the bar cart. I know, I know- how cliché blogger can I be. Who doesn’t have a bar cart these days? But again, with limited space, this really is a life saver. I use mine to store liquor, wine, sparkling water, etc but also to display cute straws, vases & any trinket I’m currently loving. I am always changing around the look & rotating items. The tray is a natural fit here, as it (a) provides a functional place to keep the tray and (b) makes it easy for serving guests cocktails!
4. Breakfast in Bed
Want to impress your significant other? Doing something sweet for a birthday/holiday? Have a loved one who is sick? There’s nothing better than good ole breakfast in bed. Why not make it adorable and serve up some fresh juice, berries & pancakes to the one you love! A tray obviously eliminates mess, but I think it also makes this act feel more special. Everyone loves to be pampered, so why not go the extra step?
5. Welcoming House Guests
This is one of my favorite ways to use my tray. I actually had two dear friends visiting from Australia last week (yup…24 hour flight!!) and I wanted them to feel as comfortable as possible. Using the tray, I was able to give them a “hotel style” welcome- guest towels, bottled water, a scented candle, some toothpaste (not pictured: some yummy snacks that were snagged up immediately!).
So there you have it, 5 easy, versatile ways to use a tray in your home. Some of my favorite trays currently out are this one, this one, this one & this one. I also recommend HomeGoods, as they’ve always got some hidden gems. Happy hunting!
