Sweater: A Ruby / Denim: Madewell / Tote: Similar / Booties: Aldo (similar here and here)

Neutrals are the backbone of my closet. I have a tendency to be attracted to louder pieces (hello sequins), but the neutrals balance them. The classics are the items I reach for time and time again, and this turtleneck is no exception.

Man Repeller recently published an essay about outfit templates. The article is here, but the CliffsNotes version is that people have a go-to clothing combo. I’m more adventurous in the warmer months, but as soon as temps begin to dip, I find myself in the outfit template seen here. I mean, can you really go wrong with jeans/sweater/booties? No, I didn’t think so. With the oversized cut of this sweater, there’s styling flexibility. Wear fully untucked (as I did here), do the “J.Crew half-tuck,” or tuck it fully into a skirt. Three looks, one sweater. I’m basically a magician here.

With A Ruby creating such well-made neutrals, it’s hard to go wrong. So whether I’m leaning toward my sequin pants or toward my denim, these classic pieces have equal hold on both sides of my crazy wardrobe.

Boston friends- if you like to shop IRL, you’re in luck. They just opened a pop up location in Copley Place (Level 2 near the central elevators). There’s a fun event tonight from 4-8. Stop by to have a glass of wine and preview the India Hicks holiday collection. You can even get styled by A Ruby’s own Avra Myers! I hope to see you there.
